The Nebraska volleyball team will play its 2024 Spring Match against Denver at the UNK Health and Sports Center in Kearney, NE, on Saturday, May 4th. The match is set to begin at 2 pm, with doors opening 90 minutes prior to first serve. The Huskers will sign autographs after the match. Approximately 5,000 tickets to the match were sold out in 46 minutes.
The trip back to Kearney continues Nebraska’s tradition of touring the state for spring volleyball matches. Since 2007, Nebraska has played spring matches in North Platte, Scottsbluff, Grand Island, Norfolk, Wayne, Ogallala, Kearney and McCook.
While there were no seniors on Nebraska’s fall roster, there are still changes to the team we will see today.
Nebraska has two freshmen on the roster who enrolled in January and played during the beach volleyball season. Skyler Pierce is a 6-2 outside hitter from Lenexa, KS, and Olivia Mauch is a 5-6 libero from Bennington, NE.
I look forward to seeing Lindsay Krause on the court. She wasn’t able to compete for most of the fall season with an injury. Her serve recieve passing as well and her hitting are key components for the Huskers.
We don’t expect to see outside hitter Harper Murray against Denver after some diciplinary actions. We also won’t see Ally Batenhorst who is transitioning USC and Hayden Kubik who is heading to U of Tennesse. Taylor Landfair, transfering in to Nebraska from Minnesota, is not yet in uniform. The spring season is the “off” season for volleyball as a fall sport so these transitions lead to creative and flexible line ups. The outside hitting duties against Denver fall to Pierce and Krause.
Bergen Reilly had an excellent freshman season as the starting setter for Nebraska. She will follow up that season with refined changes and increased leadership both on and off the court. I look forward to seeing a wider variety of sets from her as well as more offense from Bergen herself.

What do we know about Denver? Denver plays in the Summit League and finished with a 14-12 record last season. They are led by outside hitter, Cassie Davie and setter, Briley Decker. The head coach is Megan Pendergast. This her second season as Denver’s head coach. During her playing days she spent two years at University of Nebraska (2009-10) before transfering to Texas A&M. Pendergast is from Texas.
Are you going to the match? Are you watching from home? Wherever you are GBR!
