Welcome back to another fun filled summer where we get to enjoy the Summer Olympics. Yes, the Olympics are back and this time they are being hosted by the delightful people of Paris, France.

Yes, the home of jambon-beurre, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Louis XIV will host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Hopefully you have gotten your Tour de France fix and are ready for every other sport that we play under the sun.

This includes basketball!

For those of you die hard Nebrasketball fans, we have some Huskers that will be playing in this years games. None of which will come to any surprise.

To start things off, we have Jack McVeigh who will be playing for his home country of Australia. Jack played at Nebraska from 2015 to 2018. During his career in Lincoln he started 15 games. Averaging 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds during his time as a Husker.

A solid sixth man off the bench he left in 2018 to play professional ball in Australia. This past season he played for the Tasmania Jackjumpers in the Australian NBL where he averaged 16.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Most recently, he was acquired by the Houston Rockets. He will start his time with them playing for Houston’s G-League team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Next up is Lat Mayen. He will be playing for his home country of South Sudan.

Lat played for Nebraska from 2020 to 2022. During his time as a Husker he averaged 5.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He started all 27 games in his final season before deciding to go pro.

He recently signed with the Adelaide 36ers in the Australian NBL. He most recently played for the Wellington Saints of the NBL. He left half way through the season to try out for the Olympic Team. A move that was beneficial to both himself and South Sudan.

While the next former Husker is not currently playing, he is coaching.

Husker legend Tyronn Lue will be an assistant for the USA men’s basketball squad.

Tyronn played for Nebraska from 1995 to 1998. During his time as a Husker he was apart of the 1996 NIT Tournament Championship team, was Second Team All Big 12 in 1997 and Third Team in 1998. After Nebraska he went on to a multi-team NBA career where he was apart of the 2001 & 2001 Championship LA Lakers team.

Since his playing career ended he has been an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the LA Clippers. He was head coach of the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers and is currently the head coach of the LA Clippers.

Keisei averaged 15.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists his senior year with Nebraska. He entered the 2024 NBA Draft but was not selected. He did sign Exhibit 10 contract with the Indiana Pacers in July of 2024.
